The Jordan Valley around Jericho is the flattest area in Palestine and offers great conditions for sustainable bicycle tourism. The Wadi Qelt Bike Ride served as a kick-off to promote this kind of sustainable tourism in Palestine and at the same time served as a network event for local, national en international organisations to meet informally. We managed to open up an under-used UN-facility in Aqabat Jaber Camp for the duration of the event to show the potential for turning it into a centre for networking and small scale local economic development opportunities.
